FAQ — Brazilian vs Tannin
Does tannin smooth as well as Brazilian?
On wavy to curly hair, yes. On very coily hair, Brazilian glyoxylic acid still outperforms in terms of smoothing percentage. Tannin offers a more natural touch and protects colour better.
Is tannin really 'natural'?
The tannin active is plant-derived (acacia, grape, chestnut). But the full formula also contains polymers, preservatives and surfactants. The 'natural' marketing claim is legitimate on the main active, not on 100% of the formula.
Which smoothing for coloured hair?
Tannin is more colour-friendly (fixing effect). Brazilian glyoxylic acid may slightly lift warm tones. For a colour-focused clientele, prefer tannin.
Are both formaldehyde-free?
